A Helping hand to school Kids – May 2010

Posted by admin in May 11th 2010

This Christmas program was a massive success were we went on and helped people from all ages and walks of life. We had some extra cash left in our kitty and we wanted to use it to help poor school kids with their education.

We just gave a donation to 6 Anglo Indian children and each got a scholarship of 3,000.00 INR. These kids were recommended by the Parish Priest Fr.Sebastien of Lourdes Shrine Perambur. We are also sponsoring school uniforms for 25 children and paying for the stitching charges.

We would like to reach out and help more kids with school bags and tuition fees. We also want to visit a handicap home or a cancer hospital for kids and make a difference. If you would like to contribute financially or join us in organizing these programs – do drop us an e-mail as your assistance will always be appreciated.

If you would personally like to sponsor a child or contact them directly do let us know.We are here to help!

Share and Care -You brought a smile to people

Posted by admin in January 1st 2010
Dear Share&Care Family,

We (Steve & Calvin) started this with the intention of helping maybe 25-30 people this Christmas and sent out a simple e-mail request to friends and family.
What happened was incredible! We were flooded with requests of people who were not only willing to give generously (Godbless to All) but also willing to volunteer to personally come and help out.
We had people give us cash from the United States, Australia, the Middle East and India. We had people give us toys and clothes to distribute. People contributed their vehicles for us to shop and deliver. We were overwhelmed with the response and THRILLED with the impact we had on “The Boys Home” & “The Old Age Home”

Take a look at the Pictures click the link.

This is what your gifts did in part (we did a lot more but too much to roll into one letter) and 158 people all over Chennai were benefactors of your generosity!
Boys Home – 55+ Boys and Staff got blessed with
a. Shirts and Innerwear
b. Personal Toys – Video Games, Basketballs, Volleyballs, Cricket Bat and Balls, Toy Trains
c. Lunch for everyone on the 9th of December
d. Cakes & Snacks for Tea for everyone along with Carol singing.
e. Santa Claus’s from Foxen Street making the Children go crazy!!
Old Age Home – 65+ Folk and Staff got blessed with
a. Kit – Turkish towel, tootbrush, toothpaste, coconut oil, 3 soaps
b. Gift envelope of 200/- INR
c. Lunch for everyone on the 19th of December
d. Cakes and Carol singing for everyone
e. Shirts and Sarees for the careworkers
6 Deserving Anglo Indian Families
This was a moving experience for me. Witnessing an Anglo Indian staying with his family in a tin shed – 5 minutes from perambur. It was a rewarding experience to help 6 families with 5kgs rice, 1 kg oil, and other provisions such as dhal, sugar and chicken for Christmas along with clothes for the kids and a cash gift of 200/- INR.
It was a SMASHING SUCCESS!! We enclose a couple of pictures. You made this happen! You helped us to be generous to others and we pray that God gives blesses your cash and effort back a 1000 fold in 2010. Happy New year and god bless.

Share and Care this christmas -Update

Posted by admin in November 12th 2009

First apologies for not updating our blog with what we have been doing, with the limited time that we have in hand because and our daily work schedules we have finally managed to confirm on one of the places that we plan to share our Christmas with,This place is called “Anbagam Home for the Aged in Adyar, Chennai ” they have about 50-60 old people. They are really happy and excited about the fact that we have decided to spend some time with them and the people during the Christmas season.
The response and the funds that have come in have been encouraging and we plan to add an orphanage to our program for December. We request you to continue to contribute (cash/clothes/ideas) and ask others if they are interested in donating $1 or $10 or $1000 – as every dollar makes a different in the lives of people who are less fortunate than us.

We are collecting funds till the end of November. We will let you know the name of the orphanage that we are choosing within the next week..You can send us an email to sharethischristmas@gmail.com about any questions or suggestions that you have.
